Beyond-O-Matic - Time To Get Up (Trail Records) 
San Francisco’s Beyond-O-Matic undoubtedly have a serious passion for the progressive side of the 70s (they even have the lamb chops to back them up!). Their classic guitar, synth, vocals, flute, drum and bass line up delivers a comprehensive checklist of prog signatures, like extended improvisations, psychedelia, futuristic ambient electronics, space rock and plenty of shifting of melody, colour and tone.

A standout example of their craft is the lengthiest track, “Hawaiian Lady” which passes from tripped out chants and wah-wah through Gibb brother-esque falsetto, set to an almost disco rhythm before morphing into atmospheric improvisation.

Thoroughly endearing and true to their passions, and they’d grace the collection of any prog-rock fan.
