Mark Healey – Inside Out (Planet 9 Productions)
Mark Healey has been playing bass with Badfinger since 1986. I’m not sure they make it to the UK that often, so there’s no reason why you should know that, though Inside Out provides plenty of reasons why you should try to get to know Mark Healey. His latest record’s a hybrid of classic rock and the sort of power pop his band were famous for in their ‘70s heyday. Which is no surprise when you consider that his bandmates, Joey Molland, John Richardson, and Billy Davis, provide ample support throughout. But let’s not draw too much attention away from Healey. This is his album, with his songs, a lot of his playing and he’s self-produced it in his own studio. He just happens to have some friends you’ve heard of along for the ride.
