A little Q&A with Barry Hunt. Barry’s a singer-songwriter who plays guitar (left-handed and upside down) and harmonica.
His new album is called Living In The Shadows.
Leicester Bangs: Tell us a little about yourself.
Barry: I've been playing, writing and recording my own music for many decades and it ranges from pop ballads through to raunchy rock and blues.
LB: How did you start out making music?
Barry: Learned guitar from the age of 14 after hating piano lessons!
LB: Who did you grow up listening to and how do they influence what you’re doing now?
Barry: Late 60s’ guitar heroes like Hendrix, Clapton and Green influenced my early playing, though my writing is more influenced Lennon and Bowie.
LB: Tell us about your latest release.
Barry: New CD is called 'Living In The Shadows' and is released on my own label independently - it's a genre-hopping mix of the variety of styles in which I like to write, produced in my own studio.
LB: Do you get out and play your music live, and if so, what can an audience expect at one of your shows?
Barry: I play live in clubs and small theatres, sometimes solo, other times in a duo or as a band, performing a collaboration of originals and covers. All heart-felt, passionate and emotively delivered!
LB: What aspects of playing and recording music do you most enjoy?
Barry: Variety is what pushes my buttons, and keeps me interested as a listener, too. So all aspects of the musical process engage me.
LB: Where can people find (and buy) your music?
Barry: iTunes, CDbaby, Reverbnation, and on my website: www.barryhunt.co.uk
Myspace: www.myspace.com/barryhunt
