A little Q&A with Chris Comet; composer, producer, arranger sound engineer, keyboard and synthesizer player.Chris Comet

Leicester Bangs: Tell us a little about yourself.
Chris: After a successful musician / producer / session man career in Europe, I came to the US 22 years ago. Based in Hollywood I started playing and producing in famous studios such as Westlake, A&M, Record Plant, Fantasy, Jackson family private studio and so on.

I worked with musicians such as Lenny Castro, Vinny Colaiuta (drummer for Sting, Madonna, Jeff Beck, Frank Zappa), Michael Landau, Freddie Washington, Manu Katche (drummer for Peter Gabriel and Sting), Sam Riney on Sax, and the list goes on. I also collaborated with Enid Jackson (Jackson family) on several R&B projects (at the Jackson family studios in Encino California)

LB: How did you start out making music?
Chris: 70's Paris, France, playing blues rock, touring the clubs. Then synthesizers guru, programming and studio session work. Then major label recording artist: AZ Records / Trema /CBS-Epic International...

LB: Who did you grow up listening to and how do they influence what you’re doing now?
Chris: Jimi Hendrix, The Who, Rolling Stones, Pink Floyd, Roxy Music, Robert Fripp, Mahawisnu Orchestra, John Mayall, Van Morrison... no real influence, I close my eyes and play

LB: Tell us about your latest release.
Chris: Mahawisnu’s latest album was inspired by Native American Indian philosophy of life, culture and spirituality. He also very much cares about the initial first non-immigrant Americans that are the “People” - Native Indians and the social injustice that they are still suffering today. The album “Soaring Eagle” is a tribute to them, their resilience, philosophy, spirituality and wisdom. Totally recorded in my Studio in San Antonio, Texas.

LB: Do you get out and play your music live, and if so, what can an audience expect at one of your shows?
Chris: I haven’t performed live with this music yet, because the album is so new (3 weeks), but I will and the audience is universal music lovers, from 13 on to 80. I do not like categories; therefore touching the maximum audience through feelings and emotions is my goal.

LB: What aspects of playing and recording music do you most enjoy?
Chris: All of them from start to finish… meaning from conception, composition down to mixing and mastering.

LB: Where can people find (and buy) your music?
Chris: My website for CD Sales and MP3 download. Youtube under chriscometmusic. CD Baby for CD sales and MP3 downloads. (Links below).
