Daniel Lee Kendall A few words with singer-songwriter, Daniel Lee Kendall. Leicester Bangs: Daniel, tell us a little about yourself. Daniel: Well... I like music. And I seem to keep writing songs, so I guess I want other people to hear them as well... LB: How did you start out making music? Daniel: Garageband. Just by dragging and dropping little beats and riffs in, and then I gradually started singing over the top... and then I realised I really enjoyed the whole process, so I thought I'd do it a bit more seriously. LB: Who did you grow up listening to and how do they influence what you’re doing now? Daniel: My first strong influences were Jack Johnson and Ben Harper. Their songs were the first I began to learn on guitar and sing, and was when I realised that I actually had half a voice, and enjoyed singing... LB: Tell us about your latest release. Daniel: It's pretty much just anything or any feeling that has happened in my life and me just writing them down... but in the form of a song. LB: Do you get out and play your music live, and if so, what can an audience expect at one of your shows? Daniel: Yeah I try to as much as possible. When I play with a band I just really love it. I think one of my shows would go hand in hand with a nice glass of alcohol, and a good feed... That would make for a good night I reckon. LB: What aspects of playing and recording music do you most enjoy? Daniel: I love the creation process. Once the song is half finished on the guitar, I love putting all the other elements together and making it a complete song...
