It was in the mid 70's, at the suggestion of John Lennon, that celebrated journalist and film maker TONY PALMER decided to document the Story Of Popular Music and set about interviewing all the major players, past and present, at the time. Even in the 70's this was a monumental task but despite the undertaking the finished project was one that aspiring film makers would look to for inspiration even today. The program was originally broadcast between 1976 and 1981, but since that time it has neither been commercially released or repeated.

Bangs says:
Would have been interesting to have seen some early Jamaican and German music, not to mention the punk scene, breaking both in the US and the UK as the programmes were made, but overall, a great series let down ever-so-slightly by the NTSC format.

The Tomorrow Show With Tom Snyder: John, Paul, Tom & Ringo
Synopsis
NBC presented some hard-hitting journalism between 1973 and 1982 when it gave some precious late-night airtime to chain-smoking talk show host Tom Snyder. THE TOMORROW SHOW was known for its provocative questions and the good humour of its host, but it also captured some legendary TV moments, such as the last ever televised interview with former Beatle John Lennon. The interview with Lennon, which originally aired in April 1975, is included here, and this compilation also includes segments in which Snyder meets up with Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr. The interviews are the usual in-depth explorations that Snyder was known for, creating absorbing viewing for fans of both the Beatles and popular culture.
