The O's - We Are The O's (Idol Records)
Nothing to do with Leyton Orient football club, Texan band The O's cheer your heart with banjo pop... yes, that’s right, banjo pop. Forget East London footy, you should check this album if you've been swayed towards the West London folk sounds of Mumford and Sons, because it’s a delight that should be picked up by all fans of the much-mooted folk revival hitting the UK any time now. There's poignancy in the simplicity of the picking and poetry of “Fast As I Can” and “I Still Wait” that balances beautifully against the jauntiness and singalong bounce of “California”. Taylor Young and John Pedigo claim that it's 'about the song... and the party’, and I'm not one to argue as I dance around the kitchen table, beer in hand. Don't waste your day, get on the web, check out The O's and lift them into the Premier League.
