The Objex: Reservations For Debauchery

The Objex - Reservations For Debauchery (Independent)
Sex sells - I think we can all agree on that - and if sex sells records, The Objex are going to be minted. Their whole philosophy appears to be founded on what John Lydon dismissed as “2 minutes and 52 seconds of squelching noises”, which is ironic when we consider that the Las Vegas quartet (two girls, two boys) very much base their musical endeavours on Pistols-inspired, late ‘70s punk rock. They’ve even got the right nom de plumes, including Jim Nasty who plays guitar and singer Felony Melony, who named The Objex after her breasts – sweet!

“Reservations For Debauchery” is an album of fast and furious pop-punk. First track “Fingered” sets out their manifesto in 48 short seconds, before we get down to the serious business of “RSVP”. They’re certainly not stingy with the hooks but equally, they’re not prepared to hang around. The rhythm section of Aly 2X on bass and Chili on drums drive The Objex along at a relentless pace, and when it all comes together on tracks like the afore mentioned “RSVP”, “Getn Back” and “Squeeze”, they’re a fast, mean bike you’ll want to ride ‘til you’re sore – or fall off trying.
