Kevin Wing A few words with singer / guitarist Kevin Wing. Leicester Bangs: Tell us a little about yourself. Kevin: I've been a musician/songwriter for as long as I can remember. Originally from the windy city, now residing in Raleigh, NC.  I love, love, love music! LB: How did you start out making music? Kevin: It was innate in my soul.  But, started taking piano lessons at age 7. Then saxophone, then guitar.   LB: Who did you grow up listening to and how do they influence what you’re doing now? Kevin: Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, AC/DC, Pearl Jam, Nirvana, the list could go on and on.  Between Jimmy Page and David Gilmour I think I learned how to structure phrases, melodies, and ideas, into complex musical entities. LB: Tell us about your latest release. Kevin: It's a 5 song EP, full of pop-oriented, sonically-pleasing rock n roll.  All the songs are original, and touch on different genres such as alt-country, southern rock, and brit-pop LB: Do you get out and play your music live, and if so, what can an audience expect at one of your shows? Kevin: My shows will vary from solo acoustic to full band.  One thing is for sure I'm very passionate about music, and I always try to show that passion in my performances. LB: What aspects of playing and recording music do you most enjoy? Kevin: Crowd response from live performances, they give, you give more, then they give more, etc.  It’s amazing!  Recording is a whole different ball game.  I love the creative process and hearing how one idea can lead to so many other possibilities.
