Powerfully beaten drums, screaming distortion, heavy processing and layered field recordings culminate in producing an immense, noisy wall of abomination. Instrumental filth - a distant cousin of “Pretty Hate Machine”-period Nine Inch Nails.   Sister Overdrive - Annick / Philomena (Low Impedance Recordings) Sister Overdrive presents two dark ambient pieces, “Annick” and “Philomena”, each in five-parts. Upon a backdrop of swelling (and not so swelling) drones and flaking fuzz, “Annick” has an insect-like scurry, which evokes a kind of nighttime natural world. “Philomena” originally composed for a theatre production of Ovid’s “Metamorphoses VI” has a murkier, industrialised tone.
