Juanita and the Rabbit - Feeling The Love // AMPLIFIED!! (The Lost Church)
Introducing San Francisco, husband and wife garage punk duo, Juanita and the Rabbit. They’re funny and cool, lo-fi as fuck - not Royal Trux lo-fi, but you know what I mean - and they wanna share their “punky love rock”. First impressions count double and they wish us to think kindly of them. They liken themselves to a 21st century Partridge Family and they sent us a t-shirt with their CD. There’s no need to resort to bribery, though it’s a great t-shirt: roomy, a nice design and the blue makes my eyes sparkle. It’s been washed twice and still looks brand new - quality! And yet it’s their music which’ll please the hordes; their skaggy “Ain’t No Sunshine / Last Lady Pt 2” might be the chilliest Bill Withers cover since The Stornoway Girls played merry hell with “Who Is He (And What Is He To You)?”. “The Welcome” is just that; fuzzy bass, drums and a big hello. “So Hip” is just plain rude. Eight tracks in total ain’t enough, but there’s crazy talk of a long player coming. Better if it was sooner rather than later. http://juanitaandtherabbit.com
