Still unrepentantly independent, Po’ Girl return with another album of harmony-laden jazz-folk goodness. The interaction between Allison Russell, Awna Teixeira, Benny Sidelinger and Mikey August has been forged and perfected on the road (they play all over North America and Europe, notching up to 300 shows a year), and the result is wonderfully warm and inviting. They’re master musicians and singers, and they write songs fully in tune with the human condition, whether it’s love gone good / bad, everyday happy / sad or just thoughts of home, which is unsurprising considering their touring schedule. Most of all they write songs that are instantly comfortable and lived in, and you’ll want to live with them, too.
