Tracy Kash Thomas – Sound Truth (Independent)
There’s something about Tracy Kash Thomas that reminds me of Carole King. Actually, it’s a number of things. Thomas is a pianist. She writes fantastically catchy pop songs with quirky, jazzy twists, and she’s got a great voice. Really, what’s not to like? When she’s not writing and playing brilliant songs like “Hold My Hand, Zoey” or “Take It Too Far” she’s winning awards for her musical endeavours in her native Detroit. Judging by the categories they’ve got her in, the Detroit music community has got her safely filed away under jazz. Don’t let that worry you. If you’re in the mood for an exceptional singer-songwriter record that harks back to the classics of the ‘70s, then Sound Truth may well be what you’re been looking for.
