A little Q&A with Americana singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and all round rock ‘n’ roller, Phil Lee.
Phil Lee
LB:
Tell us a little about yourself.
Phil: I’ve been at it a long while. It's just now starting to pan out...
LB: How did you start out making music?
Phil: I was a drummer in a local band... ended up on a local television show with Homer Briarhopper and the Daybreak Gang, opening up for the Farm News... I really miss that gig.
LB: Who did you grow up listening to and how do they influence what you’re doing now?
Phil: Early rockers, then the Stones, Beatles and Dylan... they're still at it. Influencing me, I mean...
LB: Tell us about your latest release.
Phil: What kind of a record it is depends on which song happens to be playing at the time. More of a folk rock (I still like that term) album than the others....
LB: Do you get out and play your music live, and if so, what can an audience expect at one of your shows?
Phil: Yes. these days it's me and what other hapless soul I can drag along to play guitar and sing back ups... You can expect good music, some snappy steps and knife throwing should the venues insurance policy cover that sort of thing...
LB: What aspects of playing and recording music do you most enjoy?
Phil: I love playing live more but recording in Nashville with some of the best players on the planet can be very satisfying... Since this is a center for music, lots of times the most amazing players are just sitting at home wishing to hell somebody would call.
LB: Where can people find (and buy) your music?
Phil: The new one is only available on my site www.phillee1.com, the other stuff is available on www.cdbaby.com and the website as well
