A few words with singer-songwriter-guitarist, Rodney DeCroo...
Rodney De Croo
LB:
Tell us a little about yourself, and your band.
Rodney: I'm an American who moved to Canada in his teens. I've been playing music for 8 years now. I started at the age 33 so I got a late start. My band consists of Jon Wood (Flophouse Jr.), Ryen Froggart (The Wilderness Years), and Ed Goodine (Ray Condo, Doug Andrews). We're a basic four piece. I've got four records out including my latest release Mockingbird Bible which came out this September.
LB: How did you start out making music?
Rodney: I picked up a guitar and taught myself to play.
LB: Who did you grow up listening to and how do they influence what you're doing now?
Rodney: The bands I grew up listening didn't really influence me as they didn't stick with me. They were just there. I grew up in a little coal mining town in the late 70's early 80's and music available to us was terrible. Standard radio shit like Journey and Foreigner. There was no underground and no internet. I hated everything I heard to be honest.
LB: Tell us about your latest release.
Rodney: It came out in September. There are 13 songs on it. Jon Wood produced it.
LB: Do you get out and play your music live, and if so, what can an audience expect at one of your shows?
Rodney: Yes, I play in Vancouver regularly and I tour throughout Canada a lot.
LB: What aspects of playing and recording music do you most enjoy?
Rodney: I don't know. How do I answer this. Seriously?
LB: Where can people find (and buy) your music?
Rodney: People can buy my cds (hard copies or digital downloads) at cdbaby at this link: http://cdbaby.com/all/wartornman I always have a few songs posted on my myspace page: www.myspace.com/wartornman
