Doc Walker - Beautiful Life (Open Road)
This is the latest offering from the Canadian country rock trio. It is full of blended vocal harmonies, that are reminiscent of The Eagles and a whole raft of "new" country acts from the 1990's onwards. They certainly fall into the smooth end of country rock, and they have the musical chops and songs to be successful. The title track is the one that the band feels is their true sound, but I feel "One Last Sundown" is the best song. It is very early Eagles in its arrangement, circa "Peaceful Easy Feeling". There is also a cover of "That's All" by Genesis which is interesting, but doesn't alter it too much from the original. An album that is easy on the ear, and for those people who like their country smooth. www.docwalker.ca
