Carey West - Travel Light (Socan) This is a full debut album from a singer who has previously fronted jazz/blues, Caribbean/ska and alt. country bands in her native Canada. All three musical genres are present on Travel Light, and although the singing and playing are first class, by highlighting her musical background on this CD, I’m not altogether sure who the real Carey West is. The album reminds me of very early k.d. lang in some of her alt country songs, especially "Song For Michelle", but this album is really a mixture of sounds and styles.
