Planning The Rebellion - Songs Of The Earth (Independent)Planning The Rebellion
They call Quad Cities home. I’m not sure exactly what or where Quad Cities is, but I’m all for it if it’s got a whole scene of bands making the delicate, haunting indie-folk-pop that Planning The Rebellion produce. So, delicate and haunting, but definitely not spartan. Comprising only of brothers Scott and Robert Cerny, the siblings approach their music with some imagination, utilizing classical instruments, African percussion, electronica and acoustic guitars. It somehow avoids being cluttered through subtle layering and a melacholic tone which falls somewhere between the earthy and the epic. I’m not going to tell you which tracks standout - it’s not that kind of record - though I do recommend that you check out their MySpace page, especially if you’re partial to folks like Midlake, Fleet Foxes and Bon Iver.
